BIO

I’ve been a professor, writer-editor, media and political consultant, critic and blogger, writing about everything from cell biology and cars to the story of a great labor union. I’ve written about jazz for many years; that story is in my book Jive-Colored Glasses.

In Rhode Island and New York I had a successful media training business with political and business clients. In 1993-94 I worked with Hillary Clinton and DNC staff on health care reform. I’ve been involved in politics and blogging ever since, most lately in jazzinsideandout.com, now suspended because I couldn’t write any longer about Trump. Or jazz.
