It’s All Going to Be about Epstein

The tariff ruling by the Supreme Court made a lot of people jump up and dance. And rightly so. It’s the biggest legal defeat the President has suffered. Now we await with no pleasure the State of the Union on Tuesday which will give him an excuse for more self-serving venom, bluster and lies. But the real threat to Trump is still the Epstein files.

He has gotten himself into a real bind with Iran. After spending billions putting together a massive armada, his armed attack on Iran would produce problematic and unknown consequences. Yet he promised to avenge the thousands murdered by the regime—and has not done so. Despite the bluster, there is no deal in the offing.

And lately we have heard next to nothing about healthcare, the most looming domestic problem. It appears that the GOP’s bluff is being called once again. In December Senator John Cornyn told this to reporters with deepest irony: “The challenge Republicans have always had is trying to unify behind a single proposal. We’ve just got too many good ideas.”

After Bondi’s performance to Congress, Trump’s constant disavowals and spasmodic document release, the Epstein files have crystalized as nothing but a coverup. Journalists, some of them, have taken to calling the elites who are being shielded as “the Epstein class.” Before he left the Times, David Brooks took umbrage at the term, offering this wimpy defense of the indefensible:

I know a thing or two about the American elite, ahem, and if you’ve read my work, you may be sick of my assaults on the educated elites for being insular, self-indulgent and smug. But the phrase “the Epstein class” is inaccurate, unfair and irresponsible. Say what you will about our financial, educational, nonprofit and political elites, but they are not mass rapists.

No, David, only a relative few of them are. But those few are the elite leaders of the world. Alex Shephard of The New Republic pointed this out  about the Epstein class earlier this month:

The millions of documents released by the Department of Justice have many leads but few obvious open and shut cases. What they show instead is something different—but similarly repugnant. Again and again, powerful men—Musk and Wolff, certainly, but also Bill Gates, Steve Bannon, Peter Thiel, Prince Andrew, New York Giants owner Steve Tisch, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and recently named CBS contributor Peter Attia among them—seek out Epstein. There is no indication in their emails that they are unaware of Epstein’s reputation or status as a convicted sex offender. In some cases—Prince Andrew being perhaps the most notable—the friendship appears to be built around that fact. But in others, it’s clear that Epstein’s correspondents simply don’t care. Instead, Epstein is a confidant, someone to talk with about business, the state of the world, and, in many cases, girls. He’s not a pariah but a valued member of a social circle that wields enormous power in the world.

  1. Hello John, how are you doing? The biggest disadvantage and biggest crime of all for these viciously tortured victims, is how long it has taken for the world to learn about Epstein and his rapist friends. All citizens of the world are getting the golden opportunity to view this rare “scope” of an untouchable “underground society” of wealthy, high society rapists. That’s the real crime behind all this, and the reason why it has been so difficult for these victims to get enough attention. Can you just imagine the immense impact these victims, that are now in their 30’s and 40’s, would have had if they were recognized by the world at the age they were abused? They were children, 10 to 16 years old! Imagine seeing them standing up, there behind Bondi, what a spectacle! If only they would show the pictures of these victims more and at the tender age they were raped. Politics has absolutely nothing to do with this and only makes it so much challenging for these innocent victims, in America that is. Both the house and senate voted unanimously for the Epstein files to be completely released, so what’s the problem now???????? I’ve asked Trump fanatics what they thought of the Epstein files and their answers are so irrational, irresponsible and of course, so political. Several of them answered and actually tried to convince me that this raping of juveniles has been going on for hundreds of years and that’s the way it is. Can you believe the insane level they have reached? Totally Brainwashed!
