With so much at stake why do our Democratic shutdown negotiators look like wimps? Paralyzed with fear of being outmatched in the shutdown dispute, they whine and act like members of a high school debating team. Still, a few people on Our Side have recognized the value of humor and used it to good effect.
The Trump Antoinette rendering reminds us that some $200 million will be spent for a hideous ballroom for the let-‘em-eat-cake crowd while aid for starving children has been totally halted. These are being produced with skill by amateurs. Why isn’t the Democratic establishment involved? They’re leaving it up to Newsom and a few others.
And why did the sombrero meme get under so many Democratic skins? Jimmy Kimmel’s resuscitation should have shown the way to take a punch. Instead we got whining and griping and outrage.
The political situation Trump has brought on is both frightening and appalling. Yet, there are so many fronts on which to attack Trump. All it takes is some creativity and guts.
